Day 2

Well Day 1 is in the books and Day 2 has begun.

It was an interesting day. I was tired a lot, ate a lot of salt, drank a lot of water and ate about 24oz of steak and some pork belly.

I had to go to the store to get butter and noticed that I was much more easily winded and exhausted likely because at my size I burned through my glycogen stores pretty fast and I do not have any ketones to perform gluconeogenesis where the human body turns fat stores into Glucose which is needed for the body to function.

Heres hoping Ketones are here by Monday I have a long work week next week.

The Journey Continues.

Day 1

I started my first diet when I was sixteen years old if I can remember correctly. The years have not always been kind to my memory.

When I was 29 I decided I was going to take control of my career, stop living paycheck to paycheck and stop the poverty cycle. I had tried that once before a couple of years earlier with college ... unsuccessfully.

That is a story for another time... but I bring it up because I have a track record of making improvements on the "9's" which gives me some sort of hope this time will be different. I am 39 years old. I turned 39 7 days ago.

I am 419 pounds.

I have a fasted blood sugar of 146 (diabetic)

I have Sleep Apnea

I have fatty liver disease

I do not have diagnosed diabetes but lets say I am pretty sure I have the early stages of it and at the very least prediabetes.

I am unwell, I cannot walk through the grocery store without needing breaks. It was not always this way but I have been over 300 yo-yo ing up and down since 2011.

I have tried Keto somewhat successfully and unsuccessfully in the past. I have dabbled with a mono diet in the past (Penn's potato diet). This time though I have been reflecting a lot on my last ten years of life and my weight has been the chief complaint the entire 10 years.

It is time like when I was 29 to do something about it. So day 1 Carnivore here we go. I have a goal of 90 days to start if I have lost 15 pounds I will stay on it 90 more days, if I have lost another 15 pounds continue etc. Hell I know me and I am very regimented I do not mind eating the same way for stretches of time so if I can just fall into a routine I will do so.

I have tried clean eating, tracking, weight lifting I can get down to about 340 ... but I am so sick my metabolism is just dead. Its at a stand still so one of the benefits here is eventually I will end up OMAD 23:1 and that is when the real magic will happen. Study after study has shown that fasting for long periods of time has extensive medical benefits. I am doing carnivore as an elimination diet ... I need to find out what the hell is making me sick.

My pain, swelling, and a number of issues get better on Keto they get better when I eat more cleanly but they do not go away. Something is hurting me, something is causing a negative response.

I have turned comments off the blog because Im not really interested in debating the health benefits of the diet with armchair doctors. Nothing can be unhealthier than continuing the way I am I will be dead in 5 years or less.

The journey continues.
